The Rotring APC system fountain pen, was discontinued almost a decade ago, and it already a highly valued writing instruments among collectors.
A modern design every-day writer one of extreme quality and endurance, this is a fountain pen is virtually indestructible.
Solid steel and highly processed plastic, very thick, with a chrome and matte brushed finish.
The pen is very heavy, one of the heaviest fountain pens.
This give the pen a very good grip, great feel in the hand, and due to its weight glides on the paper effortlessly.
This edition is rare violet color lacquer finish.
The pen offered here is in excellent condition near mint, minimal no signs of use, no scratches, no dings or anything of that kind.
The Rotring’s signature red circle proudly located on top of the cap. “Germany” is imprinted on the side near the top of the cap and “APC System” circles the cap bottom twice.
APC stands for Air Pressure Compensation, a system of the fountain pen which prevents ink leakage and ensures smooth writing even during flight.
The most impressive aspect of the cap is the clip, as it is a very well designed spring-loaded clip with a maximum opening of around 4 mm, in other words it will easily fit over any pocket.
The diameter of the grip section is nearly ideal ergonomically.
This grip section is slightly textured (anodized finish) with recesses to enhance grip.
The Rotring’s steel nib is smooth and lays down a nice medium line. It is engraved with “Rotring” and “M” for medium.
The nib is very nicely "arrow" shaped, following the modern styles, and its perfectly in accord with the overall pen shape.
This Rotring pen is a modern, rugged, excellent writing every day pen, and yet a unique and rare pen.
The clip enables you to carry it in just about any pocket.
The size and weight combinations available posted and unposted should enhance writing duration.
