Riepe founded the TiKu GmbH in Hamburg in the year 1928. Instead of a conventional clip the stylograph features a tube, in which ink flows from the tank to the paper. Inside the tank is a plumb weight, which regulates the ink fluency with the help of a needle, whose peak can be seen at the front of the tube. A simple but very effective system and the precursor of today's ballpoint pen. The market recognized quickly the major advantages of this writing instrument, which was marked by a red ring at the end of the shank, and became a huge export hit!
